MARSHALL, Texas — After nearly two years at the helm, Marshall head football coach and athletic director Jack Alvarez has announced his retirement.
According to Matt Stepp with Dave Campbell's Texas Football, Alvarez is hanging it up after a 26-year career during which he also saw stints in West Sabine, Kirbyville, Ennis, Copperas Cove and Cuero.
Alvarez took over the Marshall Mavericks program in February 2022. He took over for Jake Griedl who left Marshall after three seasons to take a job in Bastrop.
