Man suffers gunshot wound to head, woman in thigh in Longview shooting

The Harrison County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene and is still investigating the incident.

LONGVIEW, Texas — One man and a woman suffered gunshot wounds in a shooting in Harrison County on Sunday.

According to the Harrison County Sheriff's Office, officials responded to a call around 10:53 a.m. on Sunday from a woman seeking help on 1235 Juanita Road in Longview.

While gaining assistance over the phone, the dispatcher overheard a man's voice saying "no, no" in the background before the call abruptly ended.

The second dispatch call located the address connected to the phone calling. Shortly afterwards, a man appeared on the line who allegedly stated he wanted to harm himself before hanging up on the phone.

According to the press release, the third phone call began with a male voice saying "no, no" proceeded with a woman saying she was shot in the thigh and needed assistance. The call ended with the man saying, "no one shot anybody". 

After a couple minutes, officials arrived to the scene and discovered a woman who suffered gunshot wounds to her upper right leg in the driver seat of the vehicle.

The man was found in the passenger seat of the vehicle with a single gunshot wound to his head, according to the press release.

Officials were able to identify the female caller as Shelly Cantrell, 45, and her boyfriend as Charles Rogers, 48 who allegedly got into a verbal altercation.

Cantrell and Rogers were both transported to local hospitals and underwent surgery for their injuries.

The Harrison County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene and is still investigating the incident.
