LONGVIEW, Texas — An East Texas man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to murdering a Longview teen.
According to Gregg County judicial records, Laderrion Devonte Johnson, 30, received his sentence in a Gregg County courtroom Monday morning for fatally shooting Rahsaan "Bobo" Jefferson, 14, on Aug. 8, 2022. Jefferson was a freshman football player at Longview High School.
Following the shooting, Johnson left the area and went to a motel on N. Spur 63 in Longview. Three days later, after a standoff with officials, he was taken into custody without further incident.
Johnson was also sentenced to 10 years each for three counts of aggravated assault and five years for one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon after pleading guilty to those charges as well. He will serve these sentences during his 50-year murder sentence, according to judicial records.
