Man killed in Gun Barrel City house fire on Thanksgiving Day

GUN BARREL CITY, Texas — A Gun Barrel City man was killed in a house fire early Thanksgiving morning.

According to the Gun Barrel City Fire Department, around 4:30 a.m. officials responded to the fire in the 100 block of Willowwood Drive. Officials say the 911 call stated that a person was still in the home.

Authorities say firefighters located the body of a deceased 31-year-old male.

The home was reported a complete loss, the American Red Cross will be assisting the family. 

There were no reported injuries to the first responders.

Mabank, Payne Springs, and Seven Points Fire Departments were called in to assist and were able to control the fire in about 30 minutes.

Henderson County Fire Marshall, Shane Renberg and his office are investigating the cause of the fire.
