POLK COUNTY, Texas — One man was charged with murder and four others were arrested after another man was killed and three others were injured in a Deep East Texas shooting earlier this month.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call about a shooting at a residence in the Kickapoo Marina subdivision of Polk County around 11:25 p.m. on Jan. 2. Deputies found one man dead and three other men injured due to multiple gunshot wounds.
Officials arrived on the scene and found a dead man identified as James Michael McClanhan, 50, of Livingston. The homeowners were identified as William Kenneth Schultea, 42, and Britney Alicia Campbell, 42, both of Livingston.
Police obtained a search warrant and found a large quantity of narcotics in the home.
According to officials, three other men involved in the shooting suffered gunshots wounds. They were identified as William Schultea, 42, of Livingston, Derrek Monroe Hughes, 33, of Shelbyville, and David Eugene Stimmell, 50, of Trinity.
Later in the night, officers located Hughes and Stimmell and transferred them to a local hospital. They were later taken to an out of county hospital for further treatment.
Schultea was also located at a residence in San Jacinto County, with a single gunshot wound. He was taken to an out of county hospital, police said.
Stimmell was charged with murder, tampering with evidence, violation protective order. He is in the Polk County Jail with a bond set over $1 million.
Chase Davis was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and is in the Polk County Jail with a bond set at over $90,000.
Campbell was charged for possession of a controlled substance and is out of jail with a $30,000 bond.
Schultea was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a controlled substance warrants.
Hughes was charged with pardon and parole warrants, unlawful possession of a firearm by felon and failure to identify fugitive warrants.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the shooting and officials believe there is no immediate danger to the public, the PCSO said.
