RUSK COUNTY, Texas — An East Texas man is dead and another was injured following a crash in Rusk County.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the one-vehicle wreck occurred around 9:50 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 28, on FM 2867, just southeast of Henderson.
The preliminary investigation revealed a pickup driven by Travis Phillips, 25, of Carthage, was traveling east on FM 2867 he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve. DPS says the truck left the roadway and Phillips overcorrected. The truck went off the road again and rolled before hitting a pole and a tree.
Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the truck, identified as Clark Neuman, 25, also of Carthage, was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
