LUFKIN, Texas — Lufkin police officers are investigating after a man was found dead near the side of a road early Tuesday morning.
According to police, a passerby saw the man around 5:15 a.m. in a grassy area beside the road in the 100 block of Collins Street. Officers then found him dead and they believe he was there for several hours.
His cause of death is currently unknown and an autopsy has been ordered, police said.
Officers believe they know who he is, but there was no identification on his person. Police are waiting for fingerprint confirmation and afterward his identity will be released following family notification.
