LUFKIN, Texas — A local nonprofit has awarded a substantial grant to the Lufkin Fire Department to fund life-saving equipment.
The City of Lufkin announced the T.L.L. Temple Foundation awarded $67,000 to support the Lufkin Fire Department's operations. According to the city, this funding will be used to purchase four Stryker Lucas 3.1 device units— advanced life-saving equipment designed to provide consistent high-quality chest compressions during cardiac emergencies.
“These devices are a game-changer for our department,” said Lufkin fire chief Jesse Moody. “They not only improve patient outcomes but also allow our first responders to focus on providing comprehensive care during critical situations. We deeply appreciate the T.L.L. Temple Foundation’s commitment to the safety and well-being of our community.”
The city said Stryker Lucas units are a "critical addition" to the departments emergency response capabilities and will enhance the life-saving efforts of emergency responders.
"This award underscores the vital role of private philanthropy in meeting community needs and ensuring public safety," the city said. "The City of Lufkin extends its gratitude to the T.L.L. Temple Foundation for their continued investment in our residents and their trust in our mission to serve and protect."
