POLICE: Longview man shot, killed by homeowner after allegedly fleeing hit-and-run, running into residence

On Sunday, around 12:30 a.m. Longview police say they responded to a hit-and-run crash, where the driver of one of the vehicles had allegedly fled the scene on foot.

LONGVIEW, Texas — Police say a Longview man, who fled a hit-and-run crash, was shot and killed by a homeowner after entering the resident's home early Sunday morning.

On Sunday, around 12:30 a.m. Longview police say they responded to a hit-and-run crash, where the driver of one of the vehicles had allegedly fled the scene on foot.

Roughly 20 minutes later, police say they received a call after a man attempted to enter a resident's house but ran off once confronted by the resident armed with a firearm.

Several minutes later, a different resident from Clemens Road contacted police saying they had shot a man who entered their residence.

Officers identified Johan Nino, 23, as the person who had been shot. Nino was transported by EMS and later died from his injuries.

"It is believed that Nino was the operator of the other vehicle that fled the initial crash scene, and then attempted to gain entry into homes before entering the house on Clemens Road," police said.

Longview police are investigating the incident, and there are no criminal charges being filed at this time.
