LONGVIEW, Texas — A Longview man was sentenced to 45 years in prison Tuesday for the 2022 shooting death of a 30-year-old man.
Davadius Thomas, 26, pleaded guilty to murder on Feb. 23 in connection with the death of Kenny McFarland Jr. on July 4, 2022. On Tuesday, the judge sentenced Thomas to a 45-year prison sentence, according to judicial records.
Thomas was originally charged with capital murder at the time of his arrest. Officers found McFarland, who had an apparent gunshot wound, while responding to the 100 block of Queens Court in reference to a welfare check on July 4, 2022.
McFarland was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to police.
