LONGVIEW, Texas — Longview ISD held an orientation for new employees at Foster Middle School Wednesday.
As students, parents and educators prepare to go back to school, LISD welcomed several new staff members to the district. Among the new employees is the district's new superintendent, Marla Sheppard.
"We can't wait until the first day of school to see our babies arrive at their various campuses. We have prepared all summer, and this year, our theme is 'embracing the all,'" Sheppard said. "And what we're looking at is, how do we teach all students all days and make sure that all students are successful."
Sheppard said she intends to set the bar high for students to push them towards success.
"We have lots of support in every area for you in order to help you reach that high bar," Sheppard said. "And our expectations are the same as your parents expectations. We want what's best for you, and we're going to do everything that we possibly can to ensure that you bring your best every day, and that we bring our best every day, so that you can leave and again be choice-driven."
Longview ISD's first day of school is Monday, Aug. 12.
