NACOGDOCHES — Longview High School graduate and former University of Oklahoma star wide receiver Malcolm Kelly has been named the outside wide receivers coach at Stephen F. Austin State University.
The announcement was made Wednesday afternoon by SFA Athletics.
Coming out of high school, Kelly was ranked the sixth best WR in the nation prior to signing with OU.
With the Sooners, Kelly was named a Freshman All-American in 2005, Big 12 All-Freshman Team (2005), two-time First-team All-Big 12 (2006, 200( and was named the MVP of the 2006 Big 12 Championship Game. During his three years in Norman, he racked up 144 receptions for 2,285 yards and 21 touchdowns.
Kelly was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft. In 2011, he was released with an injury settlement.
From July 2016-January 2017, Kelly served as the offensive quality control/wide receivers coach at Texas A&M-Commerce under new SFA head football coach Colby Carthel.
In January 2017, Kelly joined the University of Houston as a graduate assistant.
