LIST: Where can you get free Thanksgiving supplies, meals in East Texas

CBS19 has compiled a list of places that are offering Thanksgiving food items and meals across the region.

TYLER, Texas — As Thanksgiving approaches, several local nonprofits, restaurants and other groups will be giving away free meals or food items for the holiday that celebrates gratitude.

CBS19 has compiled a list of places that are offering meals across East Texas. Check out the information below:

Monday, Nov. 20

Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler will host a Feed our Friends Event with the East Texas Food Bank and hand out shelf-stable food and meat. The event plans to provide enough food for 1,400 families. It is open to the public and no identification or other requirements are needed. The distribution will begin at 9 a.m. 

Goudarzi & Young will host its first turkey giveaway at 10 a.m. at the Goudarzi & Young offices, located at 3522 Fourth St. in Longview. The turkeys, provided by Bear Creek Smokehouse, will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tuesday, Nov. 21

Hiway 80 Rescue Mission will host its meal at noon at the West Erwin Benevolence Center, located at 215 S Bonner Ave in Tyler.

Goudarzi & Young will host its second giveaway at 10 a.m. at the Yamboree Fair Grounds, located at 1300 Highway 271 N. in Gilmer. The turkeys, provided by Bear Creek Smokehouse, will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.

Wednesday, Nov. 22

The Lufkin Salvation Army, located at 412 S 3rd St. in Lufkin, will host a free Thanksgiving meal from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Legacy Tables will have a free Thanksgiving community feast from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ceaugry and WB Houston Center, located at 1313 N. Palace Ave. in Tyler. 

Thursday, Nov. 23

Longview District 3 City Councilman Wray Wade will host a free Thanksgiving dinner at the Broughton Recreation Center, located at 801 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Longview. The dinner will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information or to volunteer, call 903-921-0139 or email ph@wraywade.com.

Salvation Army of Tyler will host a Thanksgiving Dinner from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at their chapel.
