TYLER, Texas — With the school year coming to a close for students across East Texas, the kids will be without those breakfast and lunch meals that they would eat during the school days.
The East Texas Food Bank hosts a summer food program across several locations to provide free breakfasts and/or lunches to children who 18 years old or younger. There is no need to register for the meal or show proof of income.
The food bank's kickoff event for the Summer Food Program was canceled following a joint decision by the city of Tyler and ETFB. They determined conditions were not ideal at the Glass Recreation Center, which is without power at this time. The kickoff may be rescheduled at a later date.
Those in need of free lunches and breakfasts for their students can use the list below or use the East Texas Food Bank's find food tab.
Other groups and nonprofits may also provide meals for kids over the summer.
