TYLER, Texas — East Texas dominated at the UIL Military Marching Band State Contest earlier this week.
More than 20 East Texas high school bands became state finalists at the state contest across the various divisions from the 1A/2A category to the 5A/6A group.
The state champions include Carlisle High School (1A/2A schools), White Oak High School (3A schools), Lindale High School (4A schools) and Lufkin High School (5A/6A schools).
The runner-ups or silver medalists are Shelbyville High School (1A/2A schools), West Rusk High School (3A schools), Spring Hill High School (4A schools) and Longview High School (5A/6A schools).
Third place winners include Hemphill High School (1A/2A schools), New Diana High School (3A schools) and Gilmer High School (4A schools). The remainder of the 5A/6A schools are not in East Texas.
