LIST: Easter events happening around East Texas

From egg hunts to church services, CBS19 has gathered a list of Easter events happening across the area.

TYLER, Texas — Easter weekend is here! This year, the celebration of Jesus Christ's resurrection will be Sunday, March 31. 

The holiday honors Jesus rising from the dead three days after being crucified on the cross. 

Several churches and other groups in East Texas are hosting to a multitude of events, such as egg hunts and church services, to commemorate the special occasion. 

Check out a list of activities below:

  • Tyler Christian Fellowship, located at 3421 Old Jacksonville Highway in Tyler, will host an Easter egg hunt on its lawn Saturday, March 30 at 10 a.m. along with face painting, popcorn and more fun. The church will also have its Easter service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, March 31.

  • Grace Community Church, located at 3215 Old Jacksonville Hwy. in Tyler, will host Stations of the Cross where visitors can prayerfully walk and meditate through the stations of Jesus' journey to the cross. The event begins Friday, March 29, at 11 a.m.

  •  Tyler Parks and Recreation will host its annual Easter egg hunt on Thursday, March 28 at Lindsey Park, located at 12557 Spur 344 West. The event begins at 6 p.m. and goes until 8 p.m. The egg hunts are scheduled by age groups: 6:45 p.m. - children with special needs, 7 p.m. - children ages 3 to 6,  7:20 p.m. - Children ages 7 to 10, and 7:45 p.m. - ages 11 and older. The hunt times could change depending on the circumstances. Parents are not allowed on the field during the hunt time, except during the special needs group time slot.  Admission is free but children should bring their own Easter baskets. Other activities include face painting, jumpers, vendor booths and food trucks. Contact the Glass Recreation Center at (903) 595-7217 for more information. 

  • High Hill Farm, located at 12626 County Road 217 in Arp, will have an Easter brunch and egg hunt on Sunday, March 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Little ones will get to search the area for colorful eggs hidden throughout the venue. Reservations can be made via phone at (903) 834-3444.

  • Marvin United Methodist Church in Tyler will host a community Easter service at Bergfeld Park on Sunday, March 31 at 10:30 a.m. Attendees will celebrate the resurrection in an outdoor setting with coffee and doughnuts. People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. 

  • Marvin United Methodist Church in Tyler will also celebrate Easter with an intimate outdoor service as the sun rises over the church on Sunday, March 31 at 6:30 a.m. The service is in the church courtyard. The church will have other services at 8:15 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. 

  • Southern Oaks Baptist Church, located at 601 E. Amherst Drive in Tyler, will have its Easter Eggstravaganza on Saturday, March 30 from 10 a.m. to noon for a fun time of egg hunts, blow-ups, games, live music, food and a lot of candy. The church's traditional service will be at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, March 31, while an Easter brunch will be from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. and the contemporary service will be at 11:10 a.m. 

  • First Baptist Church Bullard will host its annual Eggstravaganza on Friday, March 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. with inflatables, an egg hunt, games, food and more!  The event is free and family-friendly event. There will also be a car show and people are encouraged to bring their classic and antique rides out.

  • St. Francis Episcopal Church, located at 3232 Jan Ave. in Tyler, will have a community Easter egg hunt on Saturday, March 30 from 10 a.m. to noon. There will also be a photo booth, the Easter bunny and activities. 

  • The Boulders at Lake Tyler, located at 16362 McElroy Road in Whitehouse, will host its second annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday, March 30 along with food trucks, photo opportunities with local law enforcement, game wardens and firemen, prizes, and more. The hunts will begin at 2 p.m. with staggering age groups. The kids who are 2 years old and younger will be first at 2 p.m. followed by the 3-5 year-olds at 2:15 p.m., 6-8 year-olds  at 2:30 p.m. and 9-12 year-olds start at 2:45 p.m. 

  • Reunion Plaza Healthcare & Rehabilitation, located at 1401 Rice Road in Tyler, will host its third annual Easter egg hunt from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be prize baskets and a provided lunch for attendees. People are asked to RSVP to ensure there are enough meals. People can RSVP by calling the facility at (903)561-6060 during business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

  • Sola Bread Co., located at 2453 Earl Campbell Parkway in Tyler, will host an Easter Mosaic Market Saturday, March 30 at 9 a.m. with vendors, makers and creatives. There will also be mimosas and more from True Vine Brewing Co., Sola Bread Co. pastries, Easter bake lineup and pre order pick up. The event will have live music and fun activities. 

  • Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, located at 4900 Kinsey Drive in Tyler, will have its annual Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 30. There will be a carnival with games, face painting and crafts in the fellowship hall and a guessing game for the bigger kids followed by the Easter egg hunt with hunting grounds for ages from 1 to sixth grade. Adults can get involved in the outdoor egg toss. 

  •  Trinity Lutheran Churchlocated at 2001 Hunter Street in Tyler, will have a family Easter event Saturday, March 30 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. for families to learn about Jesus’ life and sacrifice as you journey through a multisensory, hands-on experience. The interactive experience will end with an egg hunt. 

  • Bullard Methodist Church, located at 204 S. Rather St. in Bullard, will have an Easter Egg-splosion on Saturday, March 30 from 9 to 11 a.m. with pancakes and sausage, Easter games, a petting zoo, pony rides, pictures with bunnies, story time and a Easter egg hunt! Attendees are encouraged to bring their Easter baskets and their cameras. 

  • The First Methodist Church in Troup, located at 202 E. Duval St., will host an Easter Eggstravaganza with bounce houses, games, food, an Easter egg hunt, a visit from the Easter Bunny, and prize giveaways. The egg hunts will be for kids in the fifth grade and younger. 

  • Berryville Fire Department Station 1, located at 23441B County Rd 4117 in Frankston, will have an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, March 30 from 10 a.m. to noon. 

  • Clayton Homes of Palestine, located at 4610 W. Oak Street in Palestine, will have an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, March 30 at 11 a.m. with face painting, snow cones, food and more. 

  • Easter in the Park will be held in Bergfeld Park in Tyler with Easter egg hunt at noon along with shopping, food and fun on Saturday, March 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event is free.

  • Green Acres Baptist Church, located at 1607 Troup Highway in Tyler, will hold its Easter sunrise service on Sunday, March 31 at 7 a.m. The kids service will be at 8 a.m. 

  • Cathedral In The Pines Memorial Garden, located at 7825 South Broadway Ave in Tyler, will have an Easter sunrise service at 7 a.m. 

  • Trail to Christ Cowboy Church, located at 5858 US Highway 79 West in Jacksonville, will host an Easter SONrise at the Trail to Christ Cowboy Church Arena on Sunday, March 31 at 7 a.m. 

  • The Democratic Party of Gregg County and The USA 1 Truckers of Longview will have an Easter egg hunt at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 30 at Broughton Park. The eggs will be filled with sweet surprises and treats for everyone to enjoy. There will also be face painting, fun activities and refreshments to keep the festivities going. Those wanting to attend should RSVP by Thursday, March 28 to ensure there are enough eggs and goodies for everyone.

  • Likewise Coffee, located at 2459 Mosaic Way Suite A in Tyler, will host a Easter egg painting on Friday, March 29 from 9 to 11 a.m. For $10, each child will receive four wooden eggs and all the needed supplies. 

  • Tyler Biker Church will host a screening of The Passion of the Christ on Friday, March 29, at 7 p.m. The church is located at 11408 SH 64 W. in Tyler.
