Lindale ISD cuts tax rate, approves budget

CFO Michelle Tate said the board is also giving teachers increased pay as part of the budget, which is balanced despite no increase in state funding.

LINDALE, Texas — Lindale ISD trustees last week approved a lower property tax rate and balanced budget for the 2024-25 fiscal year.

According to the school district, the board approved a total tax rate of $0.9519 during a special called meeting on Aug. 26. The rate will be reduced by .0023 cents from last year’s total tax rate.

Lindale ISD has cut the tax rate by 43.58 cents over the past six years.

Lindale ISD Chief Financial Officer Michelle Tate said the board is also giving teachers increased pay as part of the 2024-25 budget, which is balanced despite no increase in funding from the State of Texas.

“I am so proud of our school board,” said Superintendent Stan Surratt. “The LISD Board of Trustees has created a plan to improve our teacher pay scale and to also improve pay for support staff, while cutting the tax rate for all Lindale ISD property owners.”
