Law enforcement searching for group accused of stealing from vehicles across multiple East Texas counties

"Please lock your vehicles, firearms were the main items taken. So please do not leave these items in your vehicle," the Wood County Sheriff's Office said.

RAINS COUNTY, Texas — Law enforcement agencies across multiple East Texas counties are looking for people who have been spotted stealing from unlocked vehicles.

According to the Rains County Sheriff's Office, the people have been seen in Wood, Van Zandt, Hopkins and Rains counties allegedly taking items out of vehicles.

Rains County Sheriff's Office encouraged people to take their belongings out of their vehicles and lock the vehicles as well.

In Wood County, the sheriff's office said at least three people stole from several unlocked vehicles in the area of FM 17 near the Van Zandt County line and the County Road 1600 area. WCSO also said several vehicles were burglarized in Van Zandt County. The suspect vehicle appears to be a Ford F-150.

"Please lock your vehicles, firearms were the main items taken.  So please do not leave these items in your vehicle," WCSO said.

The Hopkins County Sheriff's Office reported vehicle burglaries in the southern part of that county. Items reported stolen there included firearms and tools.  HCSO also said these burglaries seem to be connected to those in other counties.

Those who have any information are asked to call the Rains County Sheriff's Office, the Wood County Sheriff's Office or the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office.
