OFFICIALS: Fireworks may have played role in fire that destroyed Smith County home

According to CBS19 crews on scene, the fire broke out in the 16900 block of FM 756, also known as Paluxy Dr., around 11:45 p.m. on Thursday.

TYLER, Texas — A house was destroyed following an overnight fire in Smith County.

According to CBS19 crews on scene, the fire broke out in the 16900 block of FM 756, also known as Paluxy Dr., around 11:45 p.m. on Thursday. 

Several people were at the residence when the fire occurred, but no one was injured

Smith County Fire Marshal Chad Hogue says the preliminary investigation of the fire shows that the fire started in the garage and fireworks may have been a contributing factor.

The investigation is ongoing and foul play is not suspected at this time. CBS19 will update this article as more information becomes available.
