The KPD says decals are only for people who have immediate family members on the autism spectrum who may be riding in that particular vehicle.

KILGORE, Texas — The Kilgore Police Department is taking doing their part to make interactions between law enforcement and people with autism a little easier.

According to the KPD, they are giving out vehicle decals as part of the Texas Autism Safety Project.

"The purpose of this project is to have officers trained to identify contacts they have with persons on the autism spectrum," the KPD said. "These decals can be placed in the rear window of vehicles where an individual with autism typically rides."

The KPD says decals are only for people who have immediate family members on the autism spectrum who may be riding in that particular vehicle.

To get one, go by the KPD, located at 909 N. Kilgore St. and fill out an application. Once the application is approved, you will receive your decal.
