Kilgore police arrest 4 in connection with church burglaries

KILGORE, Texas — Four people have been arrested in connection with recent church burglaries in Kilgore.

According to the Kilgore Police Department, over the weekend officers responded to reported burglaries at the First Presbyterian Church located at 815 East Main Street and the First Baptist Church located at 501 East North Street. 

Officers utilized video surveillance, forensic analysis, and interviews to quickly identify the suspects involved in this case.

Officials located the suspects near Elder Lake at Synergy Park. Initially, officers were denied consent to search the vehicle. Corporal Sims and his K-9 partner Jinto were called to assist. Jinto alerted his partner for the presence of narcotics.

Officials discovered methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. 

Authorities arrested the following:

  • Amanda Todd, 25, of Kilgore, was charged with possession of a controlled substance with a bond set at $20,000.
  • Austin Metcalf, 24, of Beckville, was charged with burglary of a building with a bond set at $50,000.
  • Brandon Welch, 22, of Gilmer, was charged with a Gregg County warrant and possession of drug paraphernalia with a bond set at $5,000. 
  • Justin Tracey, 25, of Kilgore, was charged with burglary of a building and possession of drug paraphernalia with a bond set at $50,000.

Authorities believe there may be at least one other individual involved who remains at large.
