Kilgore native sets Guinness World Records for lunging

Austin Head, Kilgore native and former Rangerette manager, said that he couldn't have achieved the world records without the community support.

KILGORE, Texas — An East Texas native, now living in New York City, has set the Guinness World Record for performing the most lunges in an hour.

In addition to that achievement, Austin Head also set the record for the furthest distance traveled by lunge in one hour, completing 2,825 lunges in the allotted time frame.

He hails from Kilgore and is a former Rangerette manager and voice of the Rangerettes.  Now, he is a trainer at LifeTime in New York. He said that he couldn't have achieved the world records without the support of the community.

“I was pretty confident that I was going to beat the world record. What I didn't expect was the community and the support that I would have,” Head said.

He heard from people from Kilgore and East Texas who watched the live stream and received support from the community he’s built in New York City.

“It was one of the best days in my life for sure,” Head said.

He raised $7,599, with $2,500 of it coming in during his hour-long attempt. The money he raised will stay in the New York area to fund health and wellness programs.
