TYLER, Texas — Keep Tyler Beautiful was awarded its 18th Gold Star Affiliate award by the Keep Texas Beautiful nonprofit organization.
Keep Tyler Beautiful board members presented their Gold Star Affiliate and Sustained Excellence awards to the Tyler City Council at a meeting Wednesday, highlighting their programs and projects implemented over the past year.
This is the 18th consecutive year the organization has been recognized by Keep Texas Beautiful for efforts to reduce litter, continuous beautification efforts, and community education, outreach and events.
“Keep Texas Beautiful affiliates are the backbone of our organization. We are proud to honor those going above and beyond to keep their communities clean and beautiful,” said Suzanne Kho, executive director of Keep Texas Beautiful. “Our Gold Star Affiliates are educating and engaging community members, actively recruiting and managing volunteers, hosting cleanup and beautification events throughout their community, and so much more.”
A press release from Keep Tyler Beautiful said affiliates in 2023 engaged over 32,000 volunteers as part of over 500 cleanups, and through their efforts collected 3.7 million pounds of waste from Texas roadways, trails and waterways.
