SHERIFF: Juvenile arrested in Polk County after threats of gun violence

The investigation did not uncover any evidence suggesting an immediate threat to the school or to the safety of students and staff on campus, according to the PCSO.

POLK COUNTY, Texas — A juvenile has been arrested following threats made against another student at Big Sandy ISD.

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, a student at Big Sandy ISD was arrested and charged after they made "threatening communications" to another student over the phone, referencing threats of gun violence. 

PCSO said the two students had gotten into a fight on school grounds earlier in the day before the threats were made. The incident was reported to law enforcement, and the juvenile has been arrested, charged and referred to the Polk County Juvenile Probation. 

The investigation did not uncover any evidence suggesting an immediate threat to the school or to the safety of students and staff on campus, according to the PCSO.

"The Polk County Sheriff’s Office and Big Sandy ISD Staff take these incidents extremely serious and each incident will be thoroughly investigated," a spokesperson for the Polk County Sheriff's Office said. "We will continue to remain constantly vigilant in ensuring the safety of our community, schools and children."
