LONGVIEW, Texas — The Federal Railroad Administration has announced a $500,000 grant to help expand passenger rail along the Interstate 20 corridor through Mineola, Longview and Marshall.
The grant was awarded to the Southern Rail Commission for the Department of Transportation’s Corridor ID program, marking a significant milestone in the development of the proposed I-20 passenger rail project.
The Federal Railroad Administration’s announcement was part of the Corridor Identification and Development (Corridor ID) program aimed at expanding future passenger rail access across the country. The proposed I-20 passenger rail is one of 69 corridor selections across 44 states that make up the Department of Transportation’s plan, which included up to $8.2 billion in total funding.
