House, vehicles destroyed in Cherokee County fire

The fire remains under investigation.

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Texas — A home was destroyed following a Tuesday night fire in Cherokee County.

According to the Bullard Fire Department, the fire broke out around 10 p.m., in the 200 block of Baganie Ln., in the Katima subdivision.

Chief Peter Riley says the fire originated in the breaker box in the garage and it's possible an electrical issue sparked the blaze. . 

According to the homeowner, a Ford Mustang and his late wife’s Range Rover were damaged in the fire. He was not injured and was the only person home when the fire began.

Firefighters remained on scene throughout the night to monitor for hot spots.

Officials say it's unclear who'll lead the investigation due to Cherokee County being without a fire marshal at this time.
