ANDERSON COUNTY, Texas — One woman is dead and her son is injured after a house caught on fire on Tuesday in Anderson County.
The Anderson County Sheriff's Office responded to a residential fire on ACR 422, discovering an 83-year-old woman unable to escape the flames. The elderly woman later died at her home.
Her 63-year-old son was able to call 911, with neighbors assisting him to safety after he was crawling out of the home away from the fire.
The injured man was transported to the Palestine Regional Medical Center for minor burns and smoke inhalation.
Currently, an autopsy has been issued for the woman's death and the state fire marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire.
