PITTSBURG, Texas — A beloved East Texan and former NFL player has passed away.
According to Pittsburg ISD, Homer Jones, who played for the New York Giants and Cleveland Browns, recently died.
Jones, a graduate of the former Frederick Douglass High School in Pittsburg, was known during his NFL career for his size and speed. Pittsburg ISD says Jones is also credited with inventing the "spike" celebration after scoring a touchdown.
