Homeowner suffers 2nd-degree burns in Tyler house fire

The fire has since been extinguished, but the house was destroyed.

TYLER, Texas — A house was destroyed in an Tuesday morning fire in Tyler.

According to the Tyler Police Department, the fire broke out around 5:50 a.m., at the intersection of Belvedere Blvd. and N. Parkdale Dr., near Fun Forest Park.

The Tyler Fire Department says the fire was caused by a generator being too close to a combustible material. The homeowner was hospitalized with second-degree burns after he tried to put out the fire himself.

The fire has since been extinguished.
