It's an issue as old as time (not really, but you get what we're saying). How do you pluralize your name on holiday cards?

TYLER, Texas — It'll be here before you know it!

Cards will be overflowing in mailboxes to celebrate the holiday season and another year gone by.

And, it's an issue as old as time (not really, but you get what we're saying). How do you pluralize your name on holiday cards?

Here are some tips to help take just the tiniest bit of stress off you when writing out your cards.

First, do not use an apostrophes...EVER.

  • INCORRECT: The Smith's
  • INCORRECT: The Brown's
  • INCORRECT: The Thompson's

If you think you need an apostrophe to pluralize your family name, do the opposite of the Nike slogan and JUST DON'T DO IT!

Now, most family names only have to add an -s to make them plural.

  • CORRECT: The Millers
  • CORRECT: The Jacksons
  • CORRECT: The Clarks

And if your family names ends in s, ch, sh, x, or z, just ad an -es to pluralize them.

  • CORRECT: The Ramirezes
  • CORRECT: The Bushes
  • CORRECT: The Coxes
  • CORRECT: The Joneses
  • CORRECT: The Lynches

Lastly, here's where we'll really help out.

If you're in doubt, just go with, "The ____ Family." You can never get that one wrong!

Happy signing!
