Hiland Dairy breaks ground on facility expansion in Tyler

Officials say the expansion will create 30 new jobs in the Tyler area, and there could be 100 jobs added once it gets up and running.

TYLER, Texas — Hiland Dairy Foods Co. celebrated the beginning of a 90,000-sq. ft. expansion to its existing facility near downtown Tyler.

On Tuesday, the company held a groundbreaking ceremony at the facility, located at 200 Fuller Ave., for additions that will bring in state-of-the-art processing, filling, casing, palletizing, load-out, storage areas and a new laboratory. The expansion should be complete by the first quarter of 2026.

“This expansion is more than just growth in our physical footprint; it’s a commitment to the future of Tyler,” said Rick Beaman, president of Hiland Dairy. “We deeply appreciate the support we’ve received from the city, and we’re excited to continue providing good-paying, stable jobs for this community for years to come.”

Barry Beaman, general manager of Hiland Dairy’s Tyler plant, said the addition will help the Tyler facility to be better equipped to meet the growing demand for high-quality dairy products across Texas.

“This investment is not just about expanding our capabilities—it's about ensuring that Tyler remains at the heart of Hiland Dairy’s regional operations. The project will provide numerous employment opportunities, contributing to the economic stability of Tyler and its surrounding areas,” Barry Beaman said.

Officials say the expansion will create 30 new jobs in the Tyler area, and there could be 100 jobs added once it gets up and running.

"Well, obviously, we're spending millions of dollars on this facility and the tax base and the long-term investment from all of our vendors and the community and all the people that we hire will be from this area. So it's going to have a tremendous effect in Tyler," Barry Beaman said.

The Tyler plant has history dating back to 1927 as a cornerstone of the community. The facility joined the Hiland Dairy family in 2017.
