Henderson Police Chief James Pierson is set to retire July 26. He has been with the department for more than 28 years.
He says he will truly miss his police family. "You sometimes see these people more than your real family and I will miss them." Chief Pierson said.
Chief Pierson's retirement party is August 4th at the Henderson Civic Center.
He has been asked to help select the future police chief. Until then, Deputy Chief Kenny Byrd will become interim Henderson Police Chief.
