HAWKINS, Texas — Hawkins ISD confirmed a student died over the weekend in a car crash.
A statement released by Hawkins ISD confirmed one of their students was involved in a fatal car crash.
"This loss has deeply impacted our students, staff, and families, and our thoughts and prayers are with everyone grieving during this difficult time," Hawkins ISD said.
The district said they are standing alongside their neighbors in Big Sandy ISD, who also had a student die Saturday from a fatal car crash.
Counselors will be available at Hawkins ISD on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will remain on campus in the coming days for students and staff in need of support.
"Together, as a community, we will lean on each other to navigate this loss and provide comfort too everyone affected," Hawkins ISD said.
