HAWKINS, Texas — Hawkins ISD is mourning the loss of the school district's young students.
Kindergartener Frederick "Clay" Barker passed away suddenly, Hawkins ISD said in a statement Tuesday.
"This is an incredibly difficult time for the Barker family, and we as a school community feel their pain and grief deeply," Hawkins ISD said.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Oct. 29 from 3 to 5 p.m. at 987 N. Cole Bottom Road in Gladewater. The family has asked school officials to give support Barker's siblings.
