POLK COUNTY, Texas — A teacher accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a Deep East Texas student was arrested Tuesday.
Hardin ISD teacher Jahmall Thomas, 39, of Dayton, was arrested on an improper relationship with a student charge following an investigation led by the Polk County Sheriff's Office. He was booked into the Polk County Jail on a $75,000 bond. Thomas has been placed on administrative leave at this time after Hardin ISD was notified.
According to the sheriff's office, detectives met with the chief of the Onalaska Police Department on Aug. 23 about a teacher/student relationship investigation. Law enforcement determined the male teacher was employed at Hardin ISD and the female student was enrolled in a Polk County school district.
The investigation identified Thomas as the suspect in this case. An arrest warrant was issued and he was booked into jail on Tuesday, the PCSO said.
