HALLSVILLE, Texas — The Hallsville Outreach Center received renovations to their facility as part of the Ultimate Gift campaign from the Young Men's Service League of Longview.
Through YMSL-Longview, high school-aged men and their mothers served a total of 275.5 hours from Aug. 3 to 10 to install new floors and beautify the outdoor area of the Hallsville Outreach Center. Phillips Flooring America donated the flooring and floor installation, and Montoya Lines LLC contributed compost and mulch.
"This is such a blessing. We are grateful for the time, money, and resources given to Hallsville Outreach Center,” said Dawnya Wineinger, director of Hallsville Outreach Center. “The environment with new floors will be easier to keep clean and healthier for volunteers and clients. There were many safety issues as well, so it will be easier for clients to walk with their walkers and to maneuver their shopping carts and wheelchairs.”
The project was YMSL-Longview’s choice for their annual "Ultimate Gift" initiative, a multi-day philanthropic event dedicated to one philanthropy partner every year. It's based on the book “”Giving the Ultimate Gift: Transforming Communities and Cultivating Compassion," and aims to do something "transformational for the philanthropy, something that it may otherwise not have had the manpower or resources to do for itself," according to YMSL-Longview.
“Hallsville Outreach Center was chosen to receive this year’s Ultimate Gift because the program has demonstrated a significant, positive impact on our community,” said YMSL-Longview Ultimate Gift Chair Lottie Maloy. “In addressing the critical needs of everyday necessities such as food and clothing, they are making a tangible difference in people's lives."
