LONGVIEW, Texas — Usually when you hear a knock at the door, you don’t expect a group of six smiling faces on the other side! And according to some of the parents of these young boys, they didn’t either.
But thanks to a post on Facebook, some moms in Longview sure got a surprise earlier this week.
"I left work and I was going to grab lunch and I opened up my phone and in All Things Longview there's a post, and I see kids," said parent Dominique Register. "So I clicked on it and I said. 'that’s my kid back there!'"
It only took an afternoon for this group of boys to put together a plan and come up with a catchy name -- The Blue Boys -- because everyone likes the color blue. These young men are going door-to-door, not selling a thing -- just spreading joy!
"We just wanted to entertain people and just make them have a good day today," said Blue Boys members Zae Johnson and Teknique Taylor. "We just wanted to help out the community even though if they were feeling like it was a bad day. We would never know so we just want to boost their self esteem. We want to make them happy again."
But for young singers just starting out, a little cash doesn’t hurt either.
"We’re hopeful (for tips), but we’re not just doing it for money. We’re helping people," Johnson and Taylor said.
One of their parents Melissa Manshack said the positivity they're providing is greatly appreciated.
"It had us singing and dancing along. We love it," Manshack said.
It all started with a group of friends who had a fun idea that turned into something special.
"Somehow we’ve turned into a boy band -- The Blue Boys," the singers said.
We'll be lookin' for y'all one day with your name in lights!
