LONGVIEW, Texas — Downtown Longview will turn into the Wild West this Saturday as the Gregg County Historical Museum celebrates the annual Dalton Days festival.
Dalton Days is inspired by the infamous bank robbery that happened in Longview in 1894. The festival will include four reenactments of the robbery with an emphasis on the bravery and heroism of the citizens and law enforcement. The schedule for the portrayals will be 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The festival is free and located downtown in front of the Gregg County Historical Museum.
Other activities will be many children's games, food vendors, crafts, a petting zoo, and Western style entertainment. As tradition goes, Dalton Days will again be held downtown in front of the Gregg County Historical Museum. The event is free to the public.
Western entertainment includes the Harvest Moon Country grass band on the Longview Museum of Fine Arts stage in the Sculpture Garden. Artisans and craftsmen like a blacksmith, soap maker, wood craftsman, chuck wagon demonstrations, root beer saloon and many others will be in attendance.
The event is made possible partly through a grant from the city of Longview.
