Gladewater residents affected by gas leak may return home

According to the GPD, the leak was in the area near Ricks Circle. Police say it posed a possible threat to homes and businesses in the area.

GLADEWATER, Texas — Gladewater residents who were affected by a major gas leak Thursday afternoon may return home.

The Gladewater Fire Department says crews were working to fix a water main leak when they struck a 2-4" gas line in the area of Ricks Circle, near Union Grove Baptist Church. 

Residents who loved in the area were asked to leave while crews repaired the line.

The Longview News-Journal reports Gladewater Fire Department Chief Mike Simmons said those who left he area can now return.

Fifteen homes in the area are affected by the initial leak, seven of which are unoccupied. Gladewater Primary School students were moved to the junior high.
