Arrest documents reveal the victim was Tyquan Mumphrey, and police confirmed that the suspect and victim were brothers.

LONGVIEW, Texas — A Gladewater man is accused of killing his brother at a Longview convenience store while they were both shooting guns.

Tykiron Mumphrey, 20, is charged with murder in connection with a March 22 shooting at the EZ Mart convenience store, located at 700 Gilmer Road, around 3:40 a.m. A man was shot and later died at the hospital.

Arrest documents reveal the victim was Tyquan Mumphrey, and police confirmed to our news partners, the Longview News-Journal, that Tykiron and Tyquan Mumphrey are brothers.

The arrest affidavit states Tyquan Mumphrey was brought to a Longview emergency room by a silver/gray Honda car after the shooting. He was later taken to a hospital to treat the gunshot wound to his head, but he later died. Police interviewed the other people who were inside the car, including Tykiron Mumphrey.

Tykiron Mumphrey told police in an interview that he and his brother had firearms and they were shooting outside of the Honda. Tykiron Mumphrey said Tyquan Mumphrey was leaning and hanging outside of the open front passenger window while shooting his gun back toward the EZ Mart. Tykiron Mumphrey told police he was shooting his gun in the air while the vehicle was in motion, the affidavit read.

Once Tyquan Mumphrey was shot, the driver of the vehicle picked him up in the roadway and took him to a medical facility, according to the affidavit.

The document said the brothers were the only ones who had firearms based on security camera footage.

Tykiron Mumphrey remains in the Gregg County Jail without bond, according to jail records.
