UPSHUR COUNTY, Texas — A Gilmer man is behind bars accused of making threats toward Big Sandy ISD.
According to the Big Sandy Police Department, on Friday, Sept. 6, around 11:30 a.m., officers received information a threat was made concerning an attack at Big Sandy ISD.
Shortly after being notified, officials responded to the district and spoke with staff to get additional details.
The BSPD stationed additional officers on campus and requested assistance from other Upshur County law enforcement agencies. Authorities stayed on campus until school was released. They returned to provide extra security during the football game.
Over the weekend, officials were able to identify the person they say made the threat toward the school.
On Monday, around 2:30 p.m., police arrested Christopher D. McAnally Jr., 19, a former Big Sandy ISD student.
He was booked into the Upshur County Jail for online impersonation and making a terroristic threat. His bond has not been set.
