Tyler Gives fundraiser generates nearly $300,000 as part of Giving Tuesday

​Tyler Gives has raised over $1 million since its inception in 2020, according to the news release.

TYLER, Texas — Tyler Gives, a local Giving Tuesday fundraiser put on by the United Way of Smith County, generated nearly $300,000.

This year's Giving Tuesday, which is recognized annually on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, took place on Dec. 3.

According to a news release, online donations totaled $214,460 this year. Event sponsor Express Employment and the United Way matched $75,000 worth of donations, bringing the Tyler Gives total to $289,460.

"This year's Tyler Gives continued to showcase the generosity of our community," Ward Huey, board chairman for the United Way of Smith County, said in a statement. "The support from donors and matching funds make this fundraiser one of the most impactful ways to help local programs thrive and serve those in need." 

Tyler Gives has raised over $1 million since its inception in 2020, according to the news release.

The money raised via Tyler Gives supports a range of nonprofit programs focusing on education, healthcare, financial stability and safety.

"We're incredibly proud of how Tyler Gives has performed over these past five years," Jim Teeter, board chairman for United Way of Smith County, said in the news release.

Giving Tuesday will take place next year on Dec. 2.
