Former Smith County district court coordinator accused of hiding government records gets case dismissed

Judge Kerry Russell, asked for a dismissal "due to a conflict with his trial schedule and the stress placed on the personnel of the 7th District Court."

TYLER, Texas — A former Smith County district court coordinator who was accused of trying to conceal or remove over 4,500 governmental records had her case dismissed upon the request of her former boss.

Toni Patterson White, who previously worked as court coordinator in the 7th District Court, was indicted on tampering with governmental records in April. The document alleged that White intentionally concealed or removed about 4,532 files or forms from the 7th District Court's online filing system.

However, on Friday, 7th District Court Judge Kerry Russell, who made the original accusation, asked that the case be dismissed through a motion from the state.

The document said the complaining witness, Russell, asked for a dismissal "due to a conflict with his trial schedule and the stress placed on the personnel of the 7th District Court."

Earlier this year, a previous trial in White's case was declared a mistrial in the 114th District Court.
