WHITEHOUSE, Texas — A cat is dead after officials say a possible lightning strike caused a house fire in Whitehouse on Monday afternoon.
Whitehouse Fire Department Chief Madison Johnson confirmed a home in the 800 block of Black Bird Way in Whitehouse caught fire after the structure was possibly struck by lightning. One person was taken to the hospital to be checked out, and one cat also died in the blaze.
According to Johnson, firefighters are still monitoring hot spots in the area.
