1 arrested after fire at The Mountain at Canton kills 2

Residents tell CBS19 the attraction has caught fire multiple times over the past five years.

Two people are dead and one person has been arrested following a Tuesday night fire that destroyed a building at The Mountain in Canton.

The Mountain is located at 542 East Dallas St. (off Highway 64) near the world famous First Monday Trade Days. It plays host to overnight lodging, shopping and restaurants.

Canton Fire Department Chief Bud Sanford says the report of a structure came in just before 9 p.m. and crews arrived to see one building fully engulfed in flames. He confirmed that two people died because of the fire, according to the Tyler Morning Telegraph.

KWJB Radio tells CBS19 the suspect, identified as Tessa M. Furrh, 8, of Edgewood, was arrested and charged with arson causing bodily injury or death
