FEMA opens disaster recovery center in Henderson County to help residents impacted by severe storms

The center opened Tuesday at the Henderson Senior Center, located at 3344 State Highway 31 East in Athens, and will operate daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

HENDERSON COUNTY, Texas — The Federal Emergency Management Agency has opened a disaster recovery center in Henderson County to provide one-on-one assistance to residents impacted by severe storms. 

The center opened Tuesday at the Henderson Senior Center, located at 3344 State Highway 31 East in Athens, and will operate daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. 

Homeowners and renters in Henderson, Smith, Van Zandt and other counties can apply for FEMA assistance.  Residents don't have to visit a disaster recovery center to apply for FEMA assistance. 

Those wanting to apply can do so online at DisasterAssistance.gov, download the FEMA App for mobile devices or call the FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362 between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. The deadline to apply is July 16.
