TYLER, Texas — While they're not out in the open just yet, there are 29 goats that call the Caldwell Zoo their home.
Goats are ruminants, which means that they have multiple stomachs (similar to cows!). The extra stomachs aid in digestion.
Currently, the goats reside behind the scenes, but they will eventually move out to the zoo's new petting area. That will be apart of the zoo's new South America expansion. Once the new area opens, guest will be able to interact with the goats and feed them grain.
"We put grain in the cup, and the goats actually take their hoof and they kick the wheel up, and then they get a nice little treat," said Allison Luebke, keeper of mammals.
