RUSK COUNTY — An execution date has been set for Blaine Keith Milam, a 28-year-old Rusk County man who was found guilty of capital murder of 13-month-old Amora Carson during a supposed "exorcism" in December 2008.
Jesseca Carson, Amora's mother, received life in prison without the possibility of parole when she was convicted in April 2011.
Both Milam and Carson were both 18-years-old when the crime happened, and they told police they left Amora in their trailer so they could walk up the road and speak with a man about clearing out some trees for them.
The duo said when they came back to the trailer, someone had broken in and attacked Amora.
When law enforcement arrived at the trailer, Amroa was entirely stiff and in rigor.
The medical examiner ruled Amora's death a homicide, due to multiple blunt-force injuries and possible strangulation.
The baby had: facial abrasions and bruises; 24 human bite marks; scrapes, bruises and abrasions from head to toe; bleeding underneath the scalp; fractures to the back of the skull; bleeding between the brain and the skull; lacerations to the brain tissue, as well as swelling, bleeding and bruising; bleeding around the optic nerves; bleeding in the eyes and around the jugular vein; fractures to the right arm and leg; 18 rib fractures; a tear to the liver; and extensive injury to the genitals.
However, the investigation quickly poked holes in couple's story.
Carson finally admitted she was in their trailer when Blaine performed an "exorcism" on the child to rid the baby of the demons in her body.
As a result of the “exorcism” conducted by Blaine, Amora suffered innumerable injuries that led to her death.
Carson is serving out her life sentence at the Crain Unit in Gatesville.
Milam is currently being housed at the Polunksy Unity in Livingston. He lost a federal appeal in May 2018. A date of execution has been set for January 15, 2019.
