Eustace ISD releases safety plan to address coronavirus

Eustace ISD will be disinfecting all areas on campuses, including buses, daily.

HENDERSON COUNTY, Texas — Eustace ISD released a statement on how the district is addressing the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The district says they are receiving updates and reports from the CDC, the Texas Department of Health, and the Texas Education Agency regarding the coronavirus. There are no cases of the coronavirus in the East Texas area.

CDC is responding to an outbreak of respiratory illness caused by a novel coronavirus. The outbreak first started in Wuhan, China, and as of Thursday 13 states in the U.S. have reported cases of the coronavirus.

Eustace ISD says they are preparing in the event the coronavirus becomes a local threat by disinfecting all areas on campuses, including buses, daily.

They will also be adding more hand sanitizing stations throughout the district.

"Staff members are being encouraged to leave out any items that are frequently touched by different students so that they may be sanitized. This includes technology devices," the district stated.

The district is reminding the community to clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

Remember, stay home when you are sick.
