UPSHUR COUNTY, Texas — The Upshur County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a toddler died after being found unconscious in a swimming pool.
According to the UCSO, around 5:30 p.m., deputies responded to a call in the 1200 block of Bear Rd. on reports of a a 2-year-old boy being found in a pool by one of his parents when they realized he was missing from inside the home.
When officials arrived on scene, they found the child unresponsive and began performing life-saving measures. The child was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The child's body was sent to Dallas for autopsy.
"This case will be under further investigation," the UCSO said. "Child Protective Services is also notified on the occasion of the untimely death of a child."
